What academic skills do I need to be successful in the program?

In addition to the published Admissions Requirements (please see Fanshawe College website for details), the following academic skills are required in order to be successful in this program:

Arts & Literacy:  Many of the assignments/activities in this program require the student to write and research at the post-graduate level. Academic papers must be completed following acceptable academic practices which include a high level of academic integrity.

Math and Science:  Students in this program will be required to extract, analyze, and present raw data in a meaningful format. Students will require critical thinking in order to solve problems presented as case studies. Students will require a base knowledge of the health care industry and corresponding terminology.

Technology:  Students will be required to utilize technology to extract, analyze, and present health care data in a meaningful format. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of a spreadsheet program and a database program are required. Solid word processing and presentation software skills are required to produce and present reports and research findings.

Background in the health sciences, information technology, mathematics, or writing would be ideal. A combination of work experience and education in the related fields would be acceptable, and advantageous.
