Heavy Workload 

  • 6 courses in the first semester (20 credits hours)
  • 1-2 hours of study/assignments required for each hour in class
  • 20 hours of class (20-60 hour/week commitment)

Arts & Literacy High School Courses in Business Studies or Business and Technological Communication would be beneficial.

Math and Science A Two- or Three-Year College Diploma, or a Degree (Note: minimum 'C+' average or cumulative 2.5 GPA) OR Acceptable combination of related work experience and post-secondary education as judged by the College* OR Five years of work experience in the accounting field as judged by the College to be equivalent.*

Technology Basic Computer Skills (Microsoft Office, Email, Internet).

Professional Accounting is a one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate program. You’ll learn from skilled faculty that will teach you best practices in accounting and business while offering the real-world exposure you’ll need to succeed in your accounting career.

Not only will you develop specialized skills and knowledge of core accounting principles, but you will also make extensive use of Microsoft Excel and other industry-standard accounting software. You’ll graduate ready to prepare financial information to support management decision-making, calculate performance measures, prepare budgets and forecasts, monitor accounting procedures and more.

Places you may find yourself employed include

  • Office setting, typically with accounting and / or bookkeeping firms.

Tasks a graduate may do in the workplace

  • Preparation of  financial information to support management decision-making.
  • Calculation of performance measures.
  • Preparation of  budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitoring of accounting procedures and more.
