Public Safety Fundamentals PSF


Workload Level

  • Seven courses in the first semester
  • 1.5 - 2 hours of study/assignments required for each hour in class
  • 19 - 21 hours of class (47.5 - 63 hour/week commitment)

Unique program attributes include the choice of a specific public safety stream for second term. Students will make their choice prior to entering second term in consultation with the program coordinator.

Justice Protection, Policing Stream

Arts & Literacy Students will be required to complete professional documents, read textbooks, write essays, and do presentations.

Technology Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Office, Internet, checking student web portal daily).

Legal Stream

Arts & Literacy Students will be required to complete professional documents, read textbooks, write essays, and do presentations.

Technology Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Office, Internet, checking student web portal daily).

Fire Stream

Arts & Literacy Students will be required to complete professional documents, read textbooks, write essays, and do presentations.

Technology Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Office, Internet, checking student web portal daily).

Math & Science Strong math skills required (recommend grade 12 U course), Strong interest and ability in Chemistry and Physics.

Public Safety Fundamentals is a preparatory program for career programs in the School of Public Safety. Students who do not progress on to a Fanshawe College School of Public Safety program have been known to continue their studies in other college programs or at a university.
