Mechanical Technician - Tool and Die TDI


Workload Level

  • 5 courses in the first semester
  • At least one hour of study/assignments required for each hour in class
  • 19.5 hours of class (39 hour/week commitment)

What academic skills do I need to be successful in the program?

Arts & Literacy Good reading skills are necessary.

Math and Science Good math skills are necessary. If you are currently attending high school, Grade 12 Mathematics for College Technology (C) is the preferred math course for this program. Completing a Physics course is also encouraged.

Technology Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Office, email, Internet, checking student portal for course material).

What personal qualities should someone interested in this career have?

  • the ability to trouble-shoot mechanical systems
  • the ability to visualize a layout by looking at plans and blueprints
